  1. Hi, Welcome to the RRDi M.A.C.! :hi: This thread actually has an interesting discussion about Cpn. Here's a part of it: (The pdf file can be found here) I thought it was a very interesting thread, and I'd be interested to know your thoughts on a connection between Cpn and rosacea.
  2. No, I didn't mean try to cover everything. Just an article here and there, to increase content. They'll build up over time. There's no specific number I was thinking of. And we could even focus specifically on issues we'd like to see researched, as an organization.
  3. I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to create a public section of the forum, for content such as articles that could be written by volunteers. Comments could be turned off, so that the public could read the articles but not comment on them. I think this would benefit the RRDi in a variety of ways. First, it would help us in the search engines. Not that we do badly--we actually do quite well for certain keywords. However, articles would provide more content for the search engines to index, and provide more keywords, which drive traffic. Second, it would give people a chance to see this nice forum and perhaps want to join. Third, of course, if the articles were good they would just help people, in general. I especially would like to gather information that lies scattered in the archives of the forums and mailing lists and condense it down into nice, hyperlinked, topical articles. Thoughts?
  4. Well, here it is :Applause: Unfortunately the thumbnail images (avatars) were lost in the transfer, so everybody should probably upload a new one. There's lots to explore here, so please look around and let me know if you have any questions or see any problems.
  5. The new forum is now up and running in a different location, as soon as it's finished I'll transfer it to members.irosacea.org. Brady and I are configuring it and getting it worked out. (By the way, the forum is TOTALLY SWEET.) I think I actually created a workable color scheme.
  6. There have been differing opinions among professionals as to the theoretical risk-benefit ratio of Red Light Therapy (using incoherent, monochromatic, non-thermal LED light) to treat rosacea. I would be greatly interested in any member of the MAC's opinions on this subject.
  7. I may as well post updates to this thread, for whoever's interested. At this point I have obtained the software, and installed it in order to test it. It's got some great features; if the control panel of phpBB is like the dashboard of your car, the Invision control panel is like the cockpit of a B-52. I'm deciding whether or not I should integrate the member database wholesale into the forum database. I'm leaning towards... no. Also, I'm looking for a decent forum theme to match the color scheme of the main RRDi website. Haven't found anything yet.
  8. That is an interesting article. I find the hypothesis to be elegant, dissolving as it does the distinctions between varying conditions and proposing a bigger picture. Just the other day at rosaceagroup.org I posted: "I miss the science." Let me just say that this thread is like a breath of fresh air. Please, keep this discussion going- I only wish I were knowledgeable enough to contribute (some day...)
  9. Not even a hint? I hope it's like one of Hercule Poirot's "little ideas", that are always correct. But really, please post here as soon as you can reveal anything about your idea. And welcome aboard! -Steve
  10. That's cool... free adwords advertising would be sweet.
  11. I agree, I think genetic research has to be the priority. I would love to see the RRDi contribute something in this area.
  12. I think it's very concise and well done, I can't think of anything to add. I'll try to come up with some slogans to toss into the brainstorm.
  13. Brilliant idea. It's the perfect thing for the casual person surfing through. As they read, they realize they have a cousin with a condition like this, or a brother, or a co-worker, etc. (But it must have pictures... and conversations. But seriously, pictures.) I can do some editing... (mad grammar skills!)
  14. 1. "Mmmmm.... Research...." 2. "Rosacea... WTF?" 3. "WORST. DISEASE. EVER." 4. "If you're not with us, you're against us." 5. "Knock knock. Who's there? Research." 6. "Fighting the enemy in the lab so we don't have to fight him here at home." 7. "I want to believe." 8. "It's where all the cool rosaceans are." But seriously, I got nothin'.
  15. I'm not sure why the quotes aren't working, I'll look into it.
  16. That's interesting, Jenny, good question... Maybe it would be useful combined w/IPL, or just to keep pre/moderate rosacea from progressing any further. Looking forward to Dr. Cremers' remarks.
  17. Thanks, Adrian, you're spot on about the menu, I've been deciding how to make it shorter. It's definitely too big. If you'd like to come up with a list of keywords, I'll put them in there, no problem. This site is linked to by quite a few big sites (Wikepedia, for instance) so the search results tend to be very good. But, every little bit helps, that's for sure. PM me regarding SEO, site updating, I'm sure we can work something out.
  18. I'd like to have a thread about the website so I can get some feedback, but I'm not sure which forum to put it in. Basically, I'm interested in usability. I've got a to-do list which I'll try to tackle over spring break, but I need to get ideas from people visiting and using the site. For example, I know that the forum (unless you bookmarked it) is two clicks away from the home page. That's too roundabout, it should be only one click. So, any ideas about how to improve the site? (Be nice, keep in mind it's not done yet  )
