By far the most used topical prescription used is metronidazole for rosacea treatment in the form of a gel, lotion or cream. Noritate, Roxex, Metrogel, MetroLotion and Metrocream are the preferred topical brands. Generic metronidazole is now available. Sometimes oral metronidazole is used to treat rosacea.
