Root Admin Guide Posted June 9, 2014 Root Admin Report Share Posted June 9, 2014 "Praziquantel (PZQ), sold under the brandname Biltricide among others, is a medication used to treat a number of types of parasitic worm infections." [1] A paper in June 2014 published in Clinical and Experimental Dermatology magazine states that Perioral Dermatitis Severity Index (PODSI) "was significantly lower in the praziquantel group than in the placebo (vehicle) group." [2] In April 2015, another paper, published in the Int J Dermatol by some of the same authors, mentions successful treatment not with POD, instead mentioning rosacea, using a 3% topical ointment of praziquantel, that concluded, "Use of 3% PZQ ointment twice daily for 12 weeks resulted in significantly better effects than a placebo treatment in improving rosacea and the patient's quality of life." [3] The possibility of using this treatment for rosacea was discussed in a couple of threads at RF [4] so without a doubt we will be hearing more about this eventually. Praziquantel is included in with the Anti-parasitic Prescription Agents used to treat rosacea.
