Root Admin Guide Posted October 2, 2016 Root Admin Report Share Posted October 2, 2016 "Patients with rosacea have a higher risk of cardiovascular comorbidities including hypertension, dyslipidemia, and coronary artery disease than that seen in controls. Rosacea severity was also found to be dependent on the presence of cardiovascular comorbidities. One explanation for this association might be the level of the high-density lipoprotein paraoxonase-1, which was decreased in patients with rosacea and dyslipidemia. In addition, the association between cardiovascular diseases and rosacea might also be explained by enhanced expression of the cathelicidin, which has been observed both in the course of atherosclerosis and rosacea."Int J Mol Sci. 2016 Sep; 17(9): 1562.Published online 2016 Sep 15. doi: 10.3390/ijms17091562, PMCID: PMC5037831Rosacea: Molecular Mechanisms and Management of a Chronic Cutaneous Inflammatory ConditionYu Ri Woo, Ji Hong Lim, Dae Ho Cho, and Hyun Jeong Park,
Root Admin Guide Posted July 18, 2018 Author Root Admin Report Share Posted July 18, 2018 In this study, significant cardiovascular disease risk factors such as a family history of premature cardiovascular disease, obesity, prediabetes and high C-reactive protein levels were found to be higher in rosacea patients than controls. Although the underlying mechanism is not clear, it is thought that chronic inflammation and disregulation of innate immune system increase risk of cardiovascular disease in rosacea patients.
