rss
The many faces of rosacea: liberal diagnostic criteria have ramifications on disease prevalence and accuracy. J Eur Acad Dermatol Venereol. 2019 Jun 14;: Authors: Wienholtz N, Egeberg A, Thyssen JP Abstract We read with great interest the article by Tizek et al., which suggests that certain skin diseases are more common in Germany than previously thought. We were particularly interested in the finding that 25.5% of study participants fulfilled the criteria for rosacea based on dermatologist examination. The authors rightfully suggest that the high rosacea prevalence may be explained by the effect of intense (acute or chronic) ultraviolet exposure and high age of study participants.
